LEESBURG, Va. – The Virginia Professional Fire Fighters (VPFF) announced their endorsement of Mark Herring for Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
The endorsement was decided and approved by a non-partisan committee of VPFF members from around the Commonwealth.
The endorsement process of the VPFF includes an objective review of information received from a candidate questionnaire developed by the membership. A candidate’s voting history on issues relevant to firefighters in Virginia is also reviewed. Among these issues are overall health and safety, the Virginia Retirement System (VRS), Workers’ Compensation, Line of Duty Act (LODA), and Collective Bargaining.
“Mark is a great friend to firefighters in Virginia. From his early days representing Northern Virginia in the Senate, to being the top attorney in the Commonwealth since 2014, He has proven to interpret and uphold the laws impartially and objectively,” according to Robert Bragg, President of the VPFF. “Mark fights for the rights of all Virginians. And we’re proud to continue to support and fight for him. We are excited to keep him in office this November.”
“I am so proud to have the support of the Virginia Professional Fire Fighters for my re-election campaign. Working people in Virginia know that, in me, they have an Attorney General who will fight for their rights and continue to make our Commonwealth a more equal and fair place to live and work.” said Attorney General Mark Herring.
The Virginia Professional Fire Fighters (VPFF) was chartered in 1955 as a state affiliate of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF). The VPFF represents nearly 9,000 career firefighters organized as 60 local affiliates across the Commonwealth of Virginia. The VPFF focuses on legislative issues to protect and provide for the health, safety, and financial security of all members and their families.
Attorney General Herring also has the support of AFSCME SMART, UFCW 400, Virginia Education Association, Virginia AFL-CIO, VIRGINIA 512 SEIU, 32BJ SEIU, and the Mid-Atlantic Pipes Trades Association.
